A holy shrine nestled in the snow-clad Himalayas of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath Dham is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Part of the Char Dham Yatra, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and surrounded by divine tranquility.
Legend says Lord Shiva disguised himself as a bull to evade the Pandavas. When discovered, he vanished into the earth, leaving behind his hump—where the temple stands today.
Reach Haridwar or Rishikesh by train or road, then head to Gaurikund via Sonprayag. From there, the trek begins. Helicopter services are also available.
In winter, the deity is moved to Ukhimath as Kedarnath becomes snow-covered. The temple remains closed but the spiritual presence endures.
