Joshimath: Joshimath or the Jyotirmath is the hill town at the 6150 m in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Adi Guru Sankaracharya built it in the 8th century. It is winter home of Lord Badri where the Idol of lord Badri gets shifted from Badrinath.

The Badrinath temple has a Tapt Kund, which is highly auspicious and has some unbelievable medicinal properties. The Alakhnanda river originates from here. It is placed between the mountain ranges of Nar and Narayana.

Tapt Kund: Situated on the bank of the river Alakhnanda, and near the Badrinarayan temple, the Tapt Kund is actually the Sulphur Kund. As per belief, it’s actually the Agni Dev himself who got this form because of getting the boon from Lord Vishnu.
