Amarnath Yatra Package

Once Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva why he was immortal, while she kept dying and born again. Lord Shiva said it was due to Amar Katha. Hearing this, Goddess Parvati insisted on hearing the Amar Katha. At first, he refused, but she insisted. After convincing the Lord for a long time, he decided to narrate that story to her.

But to narrate the story, Lord started looking for a place where no living being could hear the story except Parvati. He left Mount Kailash and left all his belongings on the way such as his bull Nandi at Pahalgam, his Chandra at Chandanwari, his snake at lake Sheshnag, his son Ganesha at Mahaguna Parvat. At Panjtarni, he left five elements – Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Sky.

Amarnath cave with Parvati. To be sure no one else was there, he demolished all the life around him by fire. Yet a pigeon egg remained protected under the deer skin on which Lord Shiva was sitting. He started narrating the story and it heard the secret of immortality. A pair of pigeon was born out of that egg and supposedly became immortal. To this date, devotees visiting Amarnath temple can see a pair of pigeons inside the cave.

There is a block of ice forming Shivling inside the Amarnath Cave. It is believed as the presence of Lord Shiva in the form of a Lingam. It is also believed that this Lingam expands and contracts according to the moon phases. Along with Shivling, there are two other ice formations, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha.

Amarnath FAQs

The Amarnath Yatra has been taken by devotees for centuries and is considered to be one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for Hindus. It is believed that Lord Shiva chose this place to reveal the secret of immortality to his wife, Goddess Parvati. It is also believed that the mountain enshrines an ice lingam, which represents Lord Shiva in its purest form and changes size with the changing phases of the moon. This pilgrimage is meant to celebrate the joys of spiritual awakening, devotion and self-discovery.

The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The cave is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism, and thousands of devotees make the journey every year. If you're planning on undertaking the yatra, it's important to know about the registration process.

Registration Process The registration process for the Amarnath Yatra is relatively simple. You can register online through the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website or through designated bank branches. The registration process usually starts in April or May, and the yatra takes place from June to August. It's important to note that there are two routes for the yatra: the traditional Pahalgam route and the Baltal route. You will need to specify which route you plan on taking during registration. Additionally, there are different categories of registration, including individual registration and group registration.

Documents Required When registering for the Amarnath Yatra, you will need to provide certain documents. These include a valid photo ID proof, such as a passport or Aadhaar card, and a medical fitness certificate. The medical certificate must be issued by a registered medical practitioner and should state that you are physically fit to undertake the yatra. If you're planning on undertaking the yatra with a group, you will also need to provide a group registration form. This form must be signed by the group leader and should include details such as the names and addresses of all members of the group.

Important Information There are a few important things to keep in mind when registering for the Amarnath Yatra. Firstly, there is a quota system in place, which means that only a certain number of people are allowed to undertake the yatra each day. This is to ensure the safety and security of all pilgrims. Additionally, there are certain age restrictions in place. Only those between the ages of 13 and 75 are allowed to undertake the yatra. Pregnant women, people with heart conditions, and those with other medical conditions are also advised not to undertake the yatra. In conclusion, the Amarnath Yatra is a significant pilgrimage for Hindus around the world. If you're planning on undertaking the yatra, it's important to register in advance and provide all necessary documents. Remember to keep in mind the age restrictions and quota system in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.

There are two routes to reach Amarnath cave i.e. Jammu-Pahalgam and the other one is Jammu-Baltal. Jammu-Baltal is the shorter route to reach the cave and it takes 14 km trekking distance to be covered only and if you go via Jammu-Pahalgam route then you need to cover 30 km trekking distance to reach Amarnath cave. Despite being a longer route, Jammu-Pahalgam is the most convenient route to reach the cave as it facilitates all the essentials of a trip like food stalls, camps, etc.

Due to the limited carrying capacity of the mountainous tracks of Amarnath, the government has limited the number of tourists to 15,000 per day by looking after their safety and security. Each of the routes is limited to 7500 pilgrims per day and this is why registration is mandatory for Amarnath Yatra.
